The Ozark Photographic Challenge Print Competition allows photographers to submit their best 8×10 ~ 8×12 prints for a chance at top honors! This is the regions premier open competition, drawing on the photographer’s skills in creativity, presentation, and technical skills. Awards are announced at the Mid-America Photography Symposium, May 20 & 21.
This a juried competition and exhibition in a variety of categories covering Architecture, Black & White, Fine Art, Journalism, Landscape, Macro, Wildlife, Portrait, Abandoned and Weather. Entries will be accepted beginning March 1, 2017. Please be sure to read the rules completely and thoroughly. Any part of the rules that are not followed exactly will cause the entry to be disqualified.
Deadline for print submission is May 1, 2017. There is no fee to enter OPC.

Street photography, also sometimes called candid photography, is photography conducted for art or enquiry that features unmediated chance encounters and random incidents within public places. It is the art of capturing life, culture, and humanity, in a candid manner.

The way we capture and produce Black and White images have changed over time, but it is still a substantial part of photographic art. It allows us to look at light and form in such a different way when void of color. Black and white images are not usually starkly contrasted. They combine black and white in a continuum producing a range of shades of gray. Gray tones often become an important part of a good Black and White image when not capturing color.

“Reflections” Reflections make for a very unique subject in photos. Whether the reflection is in a mirror, water, glass window, or something else, it can add an element to a photo that makes it stand out. Once again, this is not limited to a particular genre of photography, let’s see what you can come up with, let this be a “reflection” of your creative ability (pardon the pun).

“Beat the Heat” We all know about the Summer heat in the Ozarks and there are many ways to Beat the Heat other than just staying indoors. Is it at the local lake or river or maybe by the water sprinkler. Or maybe it doesn’t involve water, let’s see how many ways to cool off during a hot Summer’s day.
