Dogpatch Weekend
April 21, 2017 - April 23, 2017
7:00 pm - 12:00 pm
Join us for a special event at the former Dogpatch U.S.A. amusement park, abandoned in the 1990s. PSNWA is granted permission to explore the park during the day and photograph night shots and star shots at night. The weekend will begin on Friday with a workshop on night photography taught by your weekend host, Melissa L. Jones. We’ll get some instruction, then go put it to the test at the old entrance to Dogpatch at the old Marble Falls Ski Resort location. As a bonus, the Lyrids meteor shower reaches its peak in the early morning hours Friday, so hopefully we’ll get a shot or two of meteors as well.
Then Saturday, we’ll take time to explore the park and do some photography. We’ll break for lunch at the famous Ozark Cafe in Jasper before returning to photograph, edit or rest up for the evening. We’ll grab dinner in Harrison to fuel up. Then we’ll hit the park late Saturday night to shoot the Milky Way and various places in the park. We’ll wrap up in time to check out by noon on Sunday.
Lodging is available Friday and Saturday nights at the Buffalo River Artists Lodge, which can sleep up to 20 (first come, first serve) or more if anyone wishes to bring an air mattress. Water and some snacks will be provided, but all meals are at the expense of the attendee. The fee covers the entire weekend, including Friday’s workshop!
You MUST register and pay the fee to attend, whether it’s for the entire weekend or just Saturday’s day shoot.
Please indicate in the notes if you would like to reserve a bed in the lodge or if you would prefer to bring an air mattress. Beds are first come, first serve.
