Are you a PSNWA member that would like a private boat tour of Beaver Lake to search for eagles? If so, plan to join us and eleven other members for an eagle watching cruise on Beaver Lake on the Hobbs State Park pontoon boat. The boat tour will allow you a unique perspective to capture photos of eagles and other wildlife in and around Beaver lake as we cruise along. While any photo gear can be used, if you have a longer lens, this would be the time to dust it off and put it to work. Monopods to assist with stabilization will be allowed on the boat.

This time of year, the resident eagles are busy rebuilding nests and possibly already sitting on eggs. Migrant birds are busy feeding in preparation for the journey north once the winter weather breaks. More eagles are calling Beaver Lake home for the winter each year, why not come out and try your hand at photographing one of these magnificent birds of prey.

Given the time of the year, it is recommended to dress warmly as once we are out on the open water in a moving boat, it can get very chilly.

This event is limited to 12 total participants, so registration is required. Cost will be $15 per person for members, $20 for non-members.

Fall foliage walk at Hobbs State Park
Van Winkle Hollow Trailhead
Saturday, November 3, 2018, 4:00 PM

It’s time to get out and enjoy the fall colors and cooler air at one of the gems of NWA. Bring
your cameras and tripods out to Hobbs State Park Van Winkle Hollow trail for an early morning
of fall colors. The historic Van Winkle homestead and sawmill located in a ravine between Hwy
12 and Beaver Lake gives a glimpse of what this area looked like over a century ago. Hobbs
State Park interpreter Steve Chyrchel will be on hand to give a quick overview of the history of
the Van Winkle family and their impact on the development of NWA before we get started.
Historically we have found deer and other wildlife, lots of fall scenery, and a beautiful sunrise
reflecting off the lake and bluffs covered with fall colors.
We will meet in the parking lot at the Van Winkle trailhead on the North side of Hwy 12, just
west of the Hobbs Visitor Center.
