During the last decade, Doug Hanson has been making photographs, instead of taking them.

The maker-movement takes many forms, and within this movement, Doug focused on the craft and artistry of image making. Transitioning from painting to photographing, Doug’s work spans Tintype, Gelatin Silver, Cyanotype, Pinhole, Mordancage,  Solargraphy, and other analog methods which have been his maker’s mark.

Professional Photographer Ken Kaminesky will be speaking about his travels and the passion he feels for the people he meets and places he visits while on the road taking photographs.

Ken’s career has evolved from his early days as a fashion photographer which then led to a decade of shooting stock images for Jupiter Images, Corbis, and Getty Images. After the 2008 financial crisis, the stock photo agencies completely changed the way they worked with their photographers in a negative way. This led to the next step in the evolution of Ken’s career and his taking a leap of faith to become a full-time travel, landscape, and wildlife photographer.

Across four decades of public reporting, perhaps no photographer has been so widely recognized as Diana Mara Henry for historical record of the Women’s Movement. Her breath of subject extends from the presidential campaigns of McGovern, Carter, Reagan and media titan Malcolm Forbes to demonstrations for the ERA and the Women’s Pentagon Action.

She won recognition as a New York based journalist who chose her subjects for their enduring meaning. She will tell the story through her iconic images that wrote the history of culture and consciousness in the last decades of the Twentieth Century.

As we reflect upon March as Women’s History Month, there may be few better national figures than Henry to give witness to Women on the Move.

The 2021 PSNWA Distinguished Photographer series begins with Michael Bradley, a wetplate photographer who celebrates Maori Facial Tattoos and its placement within indigenous culture.

The visible spectrum of wetplate collodion, is insensitive to blue light – which also is the color of ‘ta moko’ facial markings of Maori people, in his native New Zealand. Facial tattoos are an important part of Maori culture, yet the opportunity to reverse tradition created a moment of self reflection otherwise absent.

Michael Bradley is based in Aukland, New Zealand as a commercial photographer specializing in food, editorial and professional sports.
