“Let talk about photographing Hot Air Balloons”
Tom Ewart is a working professional photographer with over 30 years working experience from everything from commercial to events to sports. Some basic Balloon Knowledge and how to get the most out of photographing these 7 story, sometimes glowing, but usually beautifle beasts. Combining elements of color, light, fire and man’s desire for flight, hot air balloons can provide for some really appealing visual works of art. Tom has been either the official photographer or part of the official photography crew at many balloon events around the country including the granddaddy of the all the Alburquerque International Balloon Fiesta in New Mexico where 500-600 hot air balloons take flight over the 9 day event. Bring any questions you may have and we will discuss them. There are several local festivals in the area we will talk about, including Muskogee, Ok (starts the following day—Tom will the official photographer for the balloon operations at that event), Aug 17-18 and the Arkansas Balloon Championships Sept 7-9 in Harrison, AR.

Dragonfly expert Bob Thomas will lecture at 6:00 p.m. regarding how best to photograph dragonflies followed by catch and release of dragonflies. Once a dragonfly is caught in a net, it will sit on your hand for 10 or 15 seconds before flying away. This makes close up photographs possible even for the beginning photographer.

Night Photography with Greg Disch using continuous lighting. We will meet in the studio for a class and then carpool out to a location to take some night shots.
Just because you have just captured some great images during the “Magic Hour” does not mean it’s time to put away the camera and quit shooting. Some of my favorite images are from “Night Photography”. The same scene you shot during the daylight will take on a whole new dimension after dark. With digital photography, subjects that were nearly impossible to shoot a night, are now obtainable by nearly everyone.
This workshop is designed to teach you what you need to know to make fantastic night images. You will learn to set your camera manually for long exposures necessary for night photos. You will learn techniques such as “Light Painting” and “Low Level Lighting” for night sky photography. You will learn how to photograph the Milky Way and much more.
