Do you own a Nikon DSLR and need help figuring out what all of this buttons are? Well, this course is a hands-on workshop designed just for you.

Take control of your photography. Photographer Melissa Jones will help you go beyond your camera’s Auto mode and master the fundamentals of photography using a Nikon DSLR camera. With in-depth explanations of each topic followed by hands-on demonstrations, you’ll learn the skills to take your photography to the next level, no matter what type of Nikon camera you use.

Join Melissa Jones for a one-day workshop to get hands-on instruction on your camera. The workshop will include an outdoor photo shoot, weather permitting, on the Bentonville Square, or work in studio.

This workshop is designed to work in tandem with the Introduction to Nikon class on Feb. 22. The class is not required for the workshop, and vise versa. The class will provide a quick, basic introduction, whereas the workshop will more in depth. Separate registrations are required for both.

Introduction to Nikon Cameras with Melissa Jones

New to Nikon photography? Get the ins and outs of the Nikon camera line with this special class and workshop.

We’ll start with a class that provides a general rundown of Nikon cameras, their menus and what basic functions photographers need to know to start getting great photos! Then on Saturday, Feb. 24, go in-depth with your Nikon camera in a day-long workshop designed to give you hands-on, one-on-one training with your camera. We’ll explore some of the “hidden” features of the cameras, plus a few essentials and a couple of tricks to take you out of Auto mode and into options that create stunning photography.

The class is not required for the workshop, and vise versa. The class will provide a quick, basic introduction, whereas the workshop will more in depth. Separate registrations are required for both.

Instructor: Susie Burleson.

Learn to create beautiful cyanotype prints with deep blues and white tones.

Probably best known as the process to create architectural blueprints, Cyanotype has gained recent popularity thanks to both to its unique artistic look and minimal equipment requirements. One of the oldest photographic printing process, Cyanotype uses an ultraviolet light source such as sunlight to create contact prints. Participants of this workshop will learn to use botanical specimens, lace, cut paper, and even inkjet printed plastic negatives to create one of a kind photograms on paper made light sensitive using an iron salt mixture.

You will need to contact the instructor Susie Burleson (maynerd77@gmail.com) before the class to get your negative printed and ready for class.

This is for those who want to learn about film and the process of analog photography or for those what want to get back in the darkroom.

You need to supply or borrow a film camera and 35mm or 120 roll film (be sure your film is NOT C-41 development – often disguised as B&W chemically developed film).

  • 8×10 B&W paper will be supplied for this class.
  • You may also bring your own negatives to be processed.

Even if you don’t know everything there is to know about film and the darkroom, it’s okay! We are all here to learn. So, don’t be shy – sign up and come join us!
