Astrophotography / Milky Way Class

  •  August 3, 2024
     6:00 pm - 11:55 pm
We're sorry, but all tickets sales have ended because the event is expired.

Join other PSNWA members for an Astrophotography class, that will explain how to capture Milky Way Photographs (Star Points) and Star Trails using several techniques. We will discuss the equipment needed for Astrophotography, tools to help plan the shoot, locate the Milky Way, etc.

We will meet at Whole Hog Cafe in Fayetteville at 6:00 pm for the class. Come early to order food, then the class will start around 6:00pm.  Then after the class, if you want to go practice we will drive out to probably Ponca to practice (weather permitting).

For the shoot, a camera, tripod, wide angle lens are essentials, and cable release would be recommended.

Equipment:

  • camera (if you have crop and full frame, the full frame will likely perform better)
  • wide angle / wide aperture lens – wide angle being 24 mm focal length or lower and widest aperture 2.8 f stop or lower is better, but if you only have a 3.5 f or 4 f , then you can just raise the ISO
  • tripod
  • cable release if you have one, if you do not, you can just use the 2 second timer on the camera
  • flashlight (since it will be dark)
