Fall foliage walk at Hobbs State Park
Van Winkle Hollow Trailhead
Saturday, November 3, 2018, 4:00 PM
It’s time to get out and enjoy the fall colors and cooler air at one of the gems of NWA. Bring
your cameras and tripods out to Hobbs State Park Van Winkle Hollow trail for an early morning
of fall colors. The historic Van Winkle homestead and sawmill located in a ravine between Hwy
12 and Beaver Lake gives a glimpse of what this area looked like over a century ago. Hobbs
State Park interpreter Steve Chyrchel will be on hand to give a quick overview of the history of
the Van Winkle family and their impact on the development of NWA before we get started.
Historically we have found deer and other wildlife, lots of fall scenery, and a beautiful sunrise
reflecting off the lake and bluffs covered with fall colors.
We will meet in the parking lot at the Van Winkle trailhead on the North side of Hwy 12, just
west of the Hobbs Visitor Center.
