Magazine and Newspaper Photojournalism Workshop with Bob Coleman
Ever wonder what is is like to be a magazine or newspaper photojournalist? This workshop is your chance! Led by Bob Coleman, a photojournalist with more than 20 years experience from both newspaper and magazine work. This workshop will immerse you into the the world of the photojournalist.
Participants will attend a short class to prepare them for the types and style of work they will be doing.They will then be given a series of assignments to accomplish during this year’s Bikes Blues and Barbecue rally in Fayetteville. A daily meeting time will be available to discuss your progress on the assignments or to answer questions you might have along the way. A FB discussion group will also be set up for the group.
After the rally, we will meet as a group to view and discuss the work each of the photographers has done. Personal work evaluations will be provided to each participant.
Q: Who should attend this workshop?
A: Anyone with a desire to push themselves out of their comfort zone and grow as a photographer and storyteller
Q: What skill level will I need to participate?
A: The workshop is open to any photographer from beginner through those with years of experience. A basic understanding of your camera, however, is a requirement. Also, the basic computer skills to download and process your images
Q: What equipment will I need?
A: You will be able to get through these assignments with a minimum of a DSLR or mirrorless digital camera and a 50mm. Ideally, you will have a range of lenses – prime lenses or zooms – from wide to telephoto. (16-24, 24-70 and 70-200mm)
Q: How many days/nights will I be required to shoot?
A: As many or as few as you think necessary to complete the assignments. It is completely up to you. The point of this workshop is for you to come up with great images and have fun in the process
Q: Can I present my final images in BW?
A: Yes, but all assignments must be shot in color
