Not many places are as blessed as Northwest Arkansas to have a true working mill like War Eagle Mill. Different versions of Arkansas’ only working water mill have stood in the War Eagle valley since 1832, though flooding and fire forced the rebuilding of the Mill three times over its long history. A gristmill, you can still purchase organic unbleached all-purpose flour and various bread flours directly from the Mill.
Not only a treasure of Arkansas history, War Eagle is a wonderful photographic opportunity! The forested background and lack of modern clutter makes the Mill appear to be frozen in time, giving your images a look back to when water drove the machinery. Included in the vista is a traditional steel truss bridge built in 1907. The bridge adds an additional breath of history to your images as well as an elevated view of the Mill and it’s water wheel.
Located just east of Rogers near Hobbs State Park, War Eagle Mill is a destination for fall images. As the leaves change a quick trip to the Mill is well worth your time and effort. The images you take are sure to impress anyone with a love for historic and picturesque Arkansas.
